One of the top addresses in southern Germany, holding two Michelin stars in a historic hall of Schloss Hohenheim (Hohenheim Palace). A seasonal tasting menu, a long wine list and classic table service.
Two stars in the Kavaliersbau
The Speisemeisterei carries two stars in the 2026 Michelin Guide, which makes it the most decorated kitchen in Stuttgart. The chef is Stefan Gschwendtner, under whom the second star arrived in 2022. In 2023 the house was named Restaurant of the Year by the Grosser Restaurant & Hotel Guide.
History: a dining hall from 1820
The name is older than the restaurant. As early as 1820 there was a dining hall called the Speisemeisterei in the Kavaliersbau, the cavaliers' wing of Schloss Hohenheim. It became a restaurant in the modern sense in 1985.
The line of chefs since then is a compact history of fine dining in southern Germany: Martin Öxle from 1993 to 2007, holding two stars from 1996; then Frank Oehler until 2018 with one star; and since the late 2010s Stefan Gschwendtner. The house is operated by the Wilhelmer Gastronomie group.
Practical details
Regular hours are Thursday through Monday from 6:30pm. One thing to plan around: the restaurant takes a summer break, in 2026 running until September 11. At this level a reservation is a given, and it should be made well ahead.
