The location
The house faces the Bonatzbau, the 1920s main station building in shell limestone that is Stuttgart's best-known piece of early modern architecture. Crossing the square puts you at the top of the Königstraße, the pedestrian shopping axis that runs south for about three quarters of a mile to the heart of the city.
Schlossplatz and the palace gardens are a walk of well under ten minutes. So are the Staatsgalerie and the Kunstmuseum.
