Where it sits in the Kessel
Zuffenhausen sits north of the center, outside the Kessel on higher, flatter ground. It is a working industrial district rather than a scenic one: Porsche has built cars here since 1938, and the plant, the offices and the museum form a single campus around the Porscheplatz.
That means the streetscape is factory gates and company buses, not vineyards. Come for the machinery, not the views.
Getting downtown
The S-Bahn from the Hauptbahnhof reaches Neuwirtshaus (Porscheplatz) in roughly fifteen minutes, and the station exit puts you at the museum entrance. Getting back into the center for dinner is the same ride in reverse, and trains run frequently into the evening.
By car, downtown is about ten to fifteen minutes on the B10 outside rush hour, considerably longer during the morning shift change at the plant.
Who this district suits
Car enthusiasts on a pilgrimage, and anyone who wants to be at the Porsche Museum when it opens rather than after the tour buses arrive. Factory tours and the museum are the reason to be here.
It is a weak base for a general city trip. Restaurant choice is limited, there is no historic center to wander, and everything else you came to Stuttgart for is a train ride away. Consider it for one night bracketing a museum day rather than for a week.
