Swabian home cooking plus regional wines and beers, in a tavern that grew out of a bakery. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
The name: at baker Matthias's place
The name is Swabian dialect and explains the building: "Zom Bäcka Dais" means roughly "at baker Matthias's place". The tavern grew out of a bakery, and large photographs on the walls still point back to that past.
We deliberately do not give a founding year. The date circulating online appears only in business directories, not on the tavern's own site and not in any reporting.
Food and wine
What comes to the table is Swabian home cooking, alongside wines and beers from the region. This is a tavern for anyone who prefers the original to the curated version of it.
Practical details: closed Monday and Tuesday
Worth planning around: the tavern is open Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 10pm, and on Sundays and public holidays from noon to 9pm. Monday and Tuesday are closing days. The kitchen cooks from noon to 3pm and again from 4:30pm to 8pm.
The tavern sits in Stuttgart-Münster on the Neckar river, not in the Bohnenviertel downtown. Confuse it with the city-center taverns and you will be standing at the wrong door.
